Industry Testimonials

Here are some words from people in the industry about our students and the quality of training we provide.

I would like to say how impressed I was with the training, the facilities and the ethos of the school. All the tutors are very experienced in Film and Television and you understand what is required to fulfil the role of a make-up artist in Film or Television.

The courses are tailored to reflect this and with the contacts you have within the industry for work experience you produce well rounded students that our industry can be proud of. I am pleased the training in our industry is in such good hands.

Carol Churchill Former Make-Up Designer on ITV‘s ’Emmerdale’

Becoming a professional Make Up Artist takes hard work, dedication and experienced tutors to instruct and guide a student. There is no short cut to a worthwhile career in our industry.

As a Make Up Designer I have worked with several graduates of the School of Make Up and without exception I have been impressed by the level of knowledge and talent and above all the professional attitude. These graduates are the ones who will succeed in a very competitive business because of the solid grounding they are given by talented tutors, all of whom have worked in the industry and most continue to do so and are passionate about maintaining and improving standards in their field.

I am about to embark on another television drama project and the School of Make Up will be my first call when I am recruiting my team.

I represent a successful Film Production Company producing national and regional TV commercials featuring Celebrities, Actors and Models. We demand and use the best specialists in the film business.

I have engaged Elaine and her colleagues as principle make-up artists on the majority of our projects over the past 10 years, benefiting from her highly experienced and dedicated professional team in the creative field of Hair & Make-up.

Elaine is a helpful, generous and happy person. Confident and knowledgeable with an infectious happy outgoing personality – an invaluable asset to the creative challenges demanded of her.

Her many years of practical experience in the film/advertising industry enables her to impart invaluable and informed advice to her prospective students who also benefit from direct work experience under real professional working conditions. On many occasions Elaine has brought her best pupils onto my film sets as part of their work experience, giving them a unique and invaluable insight into the art of Hair & Make-up/styling in the film industry.

The Make-up School is very beautifully presented, a fully serviced professional environment with an impressive selection of tutors specialising in all areas of hair and beauty.

I am impressed with Elaine’s ability to connect and communicate her skills to her students, who go on to follow successful careers in the challenging world of Hair and Make-up.

I first heard about the School of Make-up in Stockport on the second series of the ITV 1 Drama Scott and Bailey. We were looking for a Trainee to complete our team and took on a graduate from the School.

Having worked in the industry for almost 10 years, it has become apparent that good Trainees are hard to find, but knowing of the Make-up Schools outstanding reputation we had no hesitation in taking on one of their previous students and we were not disappointed.

In what is such a competitive industry, Make-up Designers are always on the look out for budding Make-up Artists, who not only have great potential but also a basic knowledge of the long hours, what a filming day entails and are not work shy, this is where the School of Make-up comes into its own.

Having had many current pupils out for work experience on my previous two jobs, including Scott and Bailey Series 3 and the BBC Comedy Drama Heading Out, it’s refreshing to find students who have a realistic understanding of what being a Make-up Artist in Film and Television is all about.

Knowing that the students of the School are taught by Make-up Artists, still working in the industry, is always a huge advantage when considering anyone for work experience and when these opportunities arise, I always contact the School of Make-up.

I have had the pleasure of working with Elaine & many of her excellent Graduates. The training and expertise that is offered at Elaine’s school is evidently second to none. If you are serious about the ‘quality’ of your training and aftercare then in my opinion the choice is simple! While others try to imitate, there is only one School Of Make-up!

Elaine is one of the most amazing make-up artists I have worked with. She is a talented, fun, kind and caring person and I have no wonder that she has achieved the success and high regard she has within industry.

Elaine’s students have attended jobs we have worked on together and have displayed the skill and professionalism that I would expect of any experienced make-up artist. They are a credit to Elaine and evidence of the amazing training they have received at the School of Make-up.
