About the course

The VTCT Level 2 certificates in Barbering and Women’s Hairdressing (QCF) is a vocational qualification that has been designed to develop the essential elements involved in barbering and Hairdressing skills to a high level of occupational ability and will prepare you to enter the Hair and Make-up industries.

This qualification includes the units to prepare you to work effectively as a Hair and Make-up artist, including:

  • Cutting men’s and women’s hair
  • Cutting facial hair
  • Colouring techniques/methods

This qualification will develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to enable you to advise and consult with men and women on the type of hair cut and facial hair shaping the way they want, but just as importantly, what is suitable for them.

You will also learn how to work in a safe manner throughout the service, protecting both yourself and your clients/artists.

This qualification is ideal for make-up artists to add on to their existing skill base for cutting, continuity, grooming and period areas of work within the make-up industry

What is covered?

Women’s Hair

You will cover all the classic cuts from One length to short graduation styling and finishing this course also covers basic colouring skills covering root tint, hi-lighting and theory although the colouring aspect of the course isn’t accredited it is essential for the working make up artist

Men’s Hair

This unit covers all the classic men’s cuts from mid length to short graduation, fades and fashion cuts

Men’s Facial Hair

Within this unit you will cover the ultimate male grooming skills of facial hair, from full beards to moustaches, working with scissors and clippers
